The gap between the stationary ring and the movable ring gradually narrows along the direction of the mud cake outlet, from the thickening to the dewatering section. After the sludge is thickened by gravity in the thickening section, it is gradually transported to the dewatering section, where forced dewatering is achieved under the internal pressure generated by the back pressure plate at the discharge outlet.
